SSDMF, Social Security Death Master File, is a search of an individual’s social security number against list of social security numbers belonging to deceased individuals.
With a match, it will display the social security number, name and dates of birth and death for the individual on the SSDMF.
A match to the SSDMF may be the result of the use of a fraudulent social security number. In many cases, we find the SSDMF match to be the result of a typo from original HR paperwork and recommend going to review or speak with the employee to confirm that you have their correct SSN.
Important: if we do not return a match on the SSDMF, we are not validating that you have the correct social security number for the individual, simply that it is not found on the SSDMF.
