Below are the search settings and their meanings. These settings are available for domain admins to decide what is best for their company (we encourage you to consult your legal advisor for any questions about what search settings are most appropriate to use):
-
Exact Match search, which is checked (true) by default, indicates that the specified criteria (first, last, company) are matched in the data exactly. That is, if checked, the names specified will be the only things that match. If not checked, names in the data which begin with the specified values will be returned.
-
Search AKAs, which is unchecked by default, means that the Also-Known-As list from SAM and OFAC will be ignored when performing a match. If checked, the firstname, lastname, or company occurring anywhere in the AKA list will return records as possible matches. This can greatly increase the number of possible matches (with names which appear to have nothing to do with the specified criteria), but has shown to be of benefit in uncovering non-obvious potential matches, where the searched-for name is known under another name
-
Show Results for People & Companies (Interactive Search Only) Selecting this option will display secondary results. When you perform a search for an individual secondary results are a search of the last name as a company. When you perform a search for a company secondary results will display all people with a last name matching your search. Note that secondary results can not have their statuses changes.
